Great Reads

2007-02-17

Book books and more booksI'm a big time reader.  Here's a list of some of my favorite reads.  I hope you enjoy them:

>>>>EASTERN EURPEAN READS<<<<

"Return to Ukraine" A. Savage:  This is a wonderful story of this ladies trip/return to Ukraine.  Born there but as a child right before the war she came to the states.  I love eastern European stories with a westerner's eye.

"Soviet Laughter, Soviet Tears" C & R Dull: Another great story of Americans in contact with Ukrainians.

I love real life stories of westerners in Eastern Europe.  If you know of any good reads please leave a comments.

>>>>PRESIDENTIAL BIOGRAPHIES<<<<

"Nixon, A Life" J Aitken:  You may not like the man but this is a great book just for its readability.

"When Character Was King: A Story of Ronald Reagan" P Noonan: This started as a speak she wrote for a group of speeches on presidents called "Character Above All."  It's a great read.

"With Malice Toward None: A Life of Abraham Lincoln" S.B. Oates: A great biography of the man.

"Truman" D McCoullough:  I listened to this on tape.  Wonderful biography of the man.

Know of a page turning presidential biography.  Let me know.

>>>>RELIGIOUS LIFE<<<<

"The Hiding Place" C. Ten Boom:  Real Christians, real miracles, real persecution.

"God's Smuggler" Bro. Andrew: A man who smuggled Bibles behind the iron curtain.  Real miracles.

"The Bitter Road to Dachau" J Wise: Fiction based on true accounts.  Absolute great read.

Currently reading: "The Cross and the Switchblade" D. Wilkerson: Real people, real ministries, real miracles.  I love it.

This list could go on and on.  Other topics I'd like to cover:

  • - Military
  • - Computers
  • - Self Help

Maybe a part two.
